At Insta.Digital we have identified a high number of PHISHING emails purporting to be from the DVLA, in which a very realistic looking email claims that individuals have Failed to Notify of a change of keeper for a vehicle. This is a phishing email, despite the realistic look – there are a few indicators that this is not real:
1: Penalized is misspelt (unless you are using American English)
2: A word is capitalised when there is no need for it to be.
3: On some mails the domain spoofing (made to look as if the email has been sent from a gov.uk email address) has been stripped by our security systems.
4: DVLA do not send this type of message.
Please DO NOT click any links in the email – these will take you to a russian owned site whom will attempt to upload malware to your PC and is made to replicate the DVLA site and will ask for personal details. We have put blocks in place to prevent these mails reaching InstaHost clients, however you may have recieved a mail from earlier (this is not solely linked to InstaHost, this is being experienced through the majority of UK Hosting providers)
If you have clicked on a link from this email, update your antivirus and engage a full sweep – if you do not have an anti virus please download one and clean your system. If you entered any information please change your passwords to your online accounts and do not log in to any accounts until your have completed a secure sweep of your system.
